AI Agent Engineer — Luxury Experiential Travel — Tokyo

Location requirement

You must already be living in Japan with valid work authorization. We are not sponsoring relocation or visa transfers from overseas for this role. Applications from outside Japan will not be considered.

Context

We are supporting a Japanese luxury experiential travel company based in Tokyo, founded around a decade ago, with roughly fifty employees. Company-wide adoption of AI agents is their number one strategic priority. They are currently building internal and external MCP servers on top of their in-house CRM, aiming to be the first player in their market to genuinely operate through agents.

This is not a lab. The agents are wired into real business data and have to hold up in production.

The role

• Design, build and industrialize AI agents connected to the in-house CRM
• Build and operate the internal and external MCP servers
• Implement agentic workflows: orchestration, tool calling, RAG
• Ship to production, monitor and improve agents on quality, cost and latency
• Work with the AI Product Manager on scoping and specifications
• Spread the practice across business teams

What we are looking for

• You already live in Japan with valid work authorization
• 5+ years in software engineering, including LLM or agent work that actually reached production
• Strong Python, API and backend design
• MCP, LangChain, CrewAI or equivalent
• Prompt engineering, workflow design, agent evaluation
• Experience integrating business systems such as CRM or SFA is a plus
• Business-level Japanese expected. English is a plus.

Practical details

• Permanent full-time contract (正社員), no freelance option on this role
• Tokyo, Shibuya area, on-site with partial remote
• Flexible hours, core time 10:00–15:00
• Mostly Japanese-speaking working environment
