Data Engineer — Databricks × HULFT WebConnect Integration (short mission, remote)

Location requirement

You must already be living in Japan with valid work authorization. We are not sponsoring relocation or visa transfers from overseas for this role. Applications from outside Japan will not be considered.

For a Tokyo-based FinTech player, we are looking for a data engineer able to deliver, on a short and fully remote mission, a file-sending connector between Databricks and a third-party system through the HULFT WebConnect API.

The context

HULFT is a Japanese managed file transfer solution (an SFTP layer), widely used in Japan but with almost no documentation outside the local market. The need is precise, scoped and short: a single technical deliverable, not a long-term role.

The mission

• Build a connector that sends files from Databricks to a third-party system using the HULFT WebConnect API.
• Frame the integration, handle authentication and transfer reliability.
• Document the solution so the internal team can maintain it.

Who we are looking for

• Currently based in Japan with valid work authorization — no relocation or visa sponsorship from overseas for this role
• Strong data / software engineering background with Databricks (file export / sending).
• EITHER concrete prior experience with the HULFT WebConnect API.
• OR the ability to liaise with the HULFT vendor in Japanese (native or business) to compensate for the lack of documentation.
• Autonomy, delivery mindset and speed of execution.

Terms

• Format: short freelance mission (Abbeal contracting possible).
• Duration: ~1 month (potentially faster if you already know HULFT WebConnect).
• Fully remote.
• Start: as soon as possible, mid-August 2026 at the latest.
