Full Stack Developer (Python/Django + React) — Building Decarbonization Software — Montreal (hybrid)

Our client is a Montreal-based software company. Its SaaS platform, AI-powered and validated by human experts, equips real estate portfolio managers, utilities and engineering consultancies to make energy efficiency and decarbonization decisions.

Context

The company is growing fast and recently opened a French subsidiary. The product is built around an engine that simulates and cross-checks hundreds of energy measure scenarios per building, then surfaces the combination that maximizes financial, environmental and operational impact.

In practice: a lot of heterogeneous energy data to reconcile, a computation engine to feed, and an interface that has to make all of it readable for non-technical decision makers.

The role

You will be a key contributor to the platform: designing, implementing and optimizing new features, on both the backend (Python/Django) and the frontend (ReactJS).

• Design, build and maintain backend features: APIs, models, services.
• Build ergonomic, performant frontend interfaces in ReactJS.
• Contribute to technical design and propose scalable, secure solutions.
• Write automated tests: unit, integration, end-to-end.
• Take part in code reviews and continuous improvement of practices.
• Work closely with product and design to turn user needs into shipped features.
• Contribute to technical documentation.
• Take part in Scrum ceremonies.

What we are looking for

• Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience in Python with Django, and in JavaScript with ReactJS.
• Solid grasp of SaaS architectures, APIs and relational databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control with GitHub.
• Fluent in both French and English, written and spoken. This one is firm.
• Autonomy, analytical mindset, and a habit of shipping clean, documented code.
• Based in or around Montreal, authorized to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience in a startup or a fast-growing SaaS environment.
• Advanced databases: PostgreSQL, InfluxDB.
• DevOps fundamentals: Docker or equivalent.
• Distributed systems or high-performance environments.
