Senior Data Scientist — Microsoft 365 / Power BI — Enterprise Spend & Procurement Analytics (Tokyo)

Location requirement

You must already be living in Japan with valid work authorization. We are not sponsoring relocation or visa transfers from overseas for this role. Applications from outside Japan will not be considered.

Context

A global Japanese industrial automation & electronics group (Tokyo-listed, multi-billion revenue) is building an in-house DX & Data Science team within its corporate office. Two data scientists are already on board; this senior hire completes the founding core of the team.

The mandate: turn enterprise procurement & spend-management data into decision-grade analytics and predictive models, fully on the Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft 365 / O365, Power BI, Azure), and help shape the data culture of a newly formed team.

Mission

Working hand-in-hand with Abbeal and the client's DX leadership, you will:

• Design and ship advanced analytics and predictive models on enterprise procurement & spend data.
• Build robust, governed data pipelines and semantic models across the Microsoft 365 / O365 and Azure stack.
• Deliver executive-grade Power BI products (DAX, data modeling) that drive real procurement decisions.
• Help structure the methods, standards and roadmap of a brand-new Data Science team.

Your profile

• Currently based in Japan with valid work authorization — no relocation or visa sponsorship from overseas for this role
• Senior data scientist / analytics engineer with a track record of shipping models and BI into production.
• Strong Microsoft stack: Microsoft 365 / O365, Power BI (DAX), Azure; solid Python and SQL.
• Comfortable with enterprise data (procurement, finance, spend management a strong plus).
• Business-fluent English; Japanese is a plus. Based in or relocating to Tokyo.
