Structural Test Engineer — Composites (eVTOL) — Aichi (Japan)

Location requirement

Candidates already living in Japan with a valid work authorization are preferred. Candidates based abroad are also considered if they can obtain a Japanese work visa quickly, in about a month; Abbeal supports the visa process through its Mobbeal team.

A Japanese urban air mobility company (passenger eVTOL) is developing its aircraft in Aichi, near Nagoya, with type certification underway. Abbeal supports its structural and systems engineering hiring.

Context

The structures team runs a building-block test pyramid, from sub-components up to the full-scale airframe. Two test owners are needed to integrate it and drive it end to end.

The role

• Act as test owner and central integrator between design, stress analysis and manufacturing
• Write individual test plans and test reports for static, dynamic, drop and damage tolerance tests
• Oversee test rig design, load introduction and instrumentation mapping (strain gauges, LVDT, DIC, NDI/C-scan)
• Run the tests, troubleshoot setup issues and manage external test facilities when needed
• Correlate test results with finite element predictions to validate the analytical models

Your profile

• Based in Japan with a valid work authorization preferred; candidates abroad considered if a work visa can be obtained within about a month
• BS/MS in aerospace or mechanical engineering
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in aerospace structural testing (static, fatigue, damage tolerance)
• Project leadership to drive a test from concept to final report closure
• Deep knowledge of test instrumentation, data acquisition and post-test data processing
• Fluent English; Japanese is a plus
