AI Security Expert: securing an LLM platform, legaltech startup, Montréal (hybrid)

Abbeal is hiring an AI security expert for a fast-growing Montréal AI startup. Permanent role, hired directly by the client.

Context

Our client is a fast-growing Montréal AI startup. Its product is already adopted by its customers, and the team is now launching a new project that aims to reshape the legal sector as a whole.

Above all, it's a great team: small, highly innovative, with an excellent atmosphere. Things move fast, people talk openly and you work directly with the founders.

The role

• Support the team as its AI agent platform evolves, with security built in from the design stage.
• Define the platform's security architecture: sensitive customer data, models, agents and the tools they use.
• Address AI-specific risks: prompt injection, data leakage through models, security of agents and their tools.
• Get hands-on: cloud security (GCP, IAM, secrets, encryption), DevSecOps in the CI/CD pipeline, penetration testing.
• Structure data governance and compliance (Québec's Law 25, customer confidentiality).

What we're looking for

• You have solid cybersecurity experience, including recent work on AI or LLM systems.
• You can design a security strategy and also implement it yourself in code and infrastructure.
• You know cloud security well, ideally on GCP.
• You enjoy small, fast-moving teams and know how to make security practical for developers.
• You are fluent in French and English.
• Certifications (OSCP, CISSP, CCSP…) or SOC 2 experience are a plus.
