TheGreenBow: emergency takeover of the VPN console of a French cybersecurity vendor.
French cybersecurity vendor (sovereign VPN, ANSSI certifications, defense and government clients). Abbeal squad of 3 experts (senior front-end + Go back-end + DevSecOps) mobilized in weeks to take over Bowrealis Console development after the previous vendor walked off, and secure the Q1 2026 product release.

TheGreenBow is a French cybersecurity software vendor founded in 1998, based in Paris. Specialized in VPN client solutions, it has equipped sensitive-sector organizations — defense, security, government — for over twenty years, with reference clients such as Dassault and Thales. Its promise: data sovereignty, backed by certification at the highest national and European level.
The company has around fifty employees and was acquired in 2025 by the Athena group, marking a new phase of investment and product transformation. In parallel, TheGreenBow is accelerating on post-quantum cryptography with the launch — announced at the InCyber 2024 forum — of its first VPN client resistant to quantum attacks.
Context & challenge
In summer 2025, TheGreenBow finds itself in a critical situation on one of its strategic products: the Bowrealis Console (CMC). This platform centralizes VPN configuration management, collects audit traces and deploys security policies at its end clients. Its release is awaited by the market.
But the external vendor in charge of development has just stopped the cooperation. TheGreenBow finds itself without a team, without internal front-end knowledge, and with a critical product to deliver for Q1 2026.
Project constraints
- Immediate takeover of an existing codebase after several years of development by a third party
- No internal front-end skills at TheGreenBow — the team is mainly low-level oriented (VPN clients, drivers, security)
- Requirement: product ready for Q1 2026 release, with a coherent design system and a sustainable stack
- High autonomy expected: the squad had to be able to make structuring technical decisions without client-side micro-management
The Abbeal solution
Within weeks, Abbeal assembled and deployed a squad of three experts dedicated to taking over the Bowrealis Console. The squad profile was calibrated to fill exactly the missing skills on TheGreenBow's side: product front-end, Go back-end, architecture and DevSecOps.
The squad
- A senior front-end lead — full UI redesign on Figma, HTML/CSS/PicoCSS integration, design system
- A Go back-end developer — takeover of historical code, stabilization of the distributed architecture
- An architecture / DevSecOps profile — CI/CD chain, automation, quality and industrialization
The approach
Rather than a simple iso-perimeter replacement, Abbeal proposed a technical reset approach to secure the product release:
- Scoping workshop with TheGreenBow founders and technical team to redefine priority features for the Q1 2026 release
- Setting up a shared Figma design system to ensure coherence of future screens
- Progressive front-end migration to a modern stack (HTML/CSS/PicoCSS) compatible with the product context
- Production of internal documentation (icon usage, page structure, best practices) to sustain technical choices beyond the engagement
The tech stack
The Abbeal squad operates on a deliberately sober and maintainable stack, aligned with TheGreenBow's product culture and compatible with its sovereignty constraints.
- Front-end: HTML / CSS / PicoCSS, Figma, custom design system
- Back-end: Go (Golang) — takeover of application code and distributed architecture
- DevSecOps: CI/CD, GitLab, deployment automation, application security
- Method: integrated multi-disciplinary squad, product autonomy, short cycles
The outcomes
- Full re-mastery of the Bowrealis Console after the abrupt halt of the previous vendor
- Securing the Q1 2026 product release trajectory, with a sustainable design system and documentation
- Complete UI overhaul on a new coherent technical stack
- Internalization of front-end best practices via the documentation produced by the squad, beyond the engagement duration
- Collaboration expansion: 3 projects entrusted to Abbeal in 2025
