QA Engineer (Mid/Senior) — Digital Bank, Tokyo

Location requirement

You must already be living in Japan with valid work authorization. We are not sponsoring relocation or visa transfers from overseas for this role. Applications from outside Japan will not be considered.

Context

Our client is launching a brand-new digital bank in Tokyo (joint-venture between a leading Japanese FinTech and a major banking group), dedicated to SMEs. You build the quality foundations of a from-scratch product.

Your mission

• Design and operate the QA process integrated into CI/CD (GitHub Actions), shift-left mode
• Define test strategies (functional, regression, integration, performance, security)
• Plan, create and execute test cases, report defects, make release decisions
• Read and challenge banking business rules (onboarding, KYC/AML, payments, ledger, JFSA reporting)
• Maintain traceability business rules ↔ test cases ↔ regulatory evidence (audit readiness)

Profile

• Currently based in Japan with valid work authorization — no relocation or visa sponsorship from overseas for this role
• Solid QA experience with automation (Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured, pytest, Jest)
• Python and/or TypeScript, CI/CD integration
• Affinity for banking / regulated domains
• Business-level Japanese essential for Risk / Compliance; fluent English
