Structural Certification Engineer — eVTOL (SC-VTOL, Part 23/27) — Aichi (Japan)

Location requirement

Candidates already living in Japan with a valid work authorization are preferred. Candidates based abroad are also considered if they can obtain a Japanese work visa quickly, in about a month; Abbeal supports the visa process through its Mobbeal team.

A Japanese urban air mobility company (passenger eVTOL) is developing its aircraft in Aichi, near Nagoya, with type certification underway. Abbeal supports its structural and systems engineering hiring.

Context

The airframe is going through type certification with the Japanese and US authorities. Two engineers are needed to own the structural compliance strategy and carry it into authority meetings.

The role

  • Write structural certification plans and set the means of compliance for structural requirements (SC-VTOL, Part 23/27)
  • Lead technical meetings with airworthiness authorities (JCAB, FAA) and present clear compliance rationales
  • Keep analysis reports (MOC 2) and test plans and reports (MOC 4) aligned with the certification basis and guidance (AC 20-107B, AC 25.571-1D)
  • Build data-driven justifications to close issue papers, CRIs and authority comments
  • Flow regulatory requirements (ALRs) down to structural system-level requirements (SLRs)

Your profile

  • Based in Japan with a valid work authorization preferred; candidates abroad considered if a work visa can be obtained within about a month
  • BS/MS in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • 7+ years on aircraft structural certification programs (Part 23, 25, 27 or 29)
  • Proven track record of interfacing directly with FAA, EASA or JCAB and defending technical positions
  • Strong logical reasoning and technical writing to build solid compliance arguments
  • Fluent English; Japanese is a plus
